Lieutenant Commander Emmanuel Makinde at the
Royal Naval College, Greenwich (Circa 1971)
Excited to
discover yet another piece of vintage newsreel of my Father. This one
captures him at a Royal Navy equipment exhibition at the Royal Navy College in
Greenwich, London on September 21st 1971.
Newly
promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, he was then serving as the Deputy
Defence Advisor at the Nigerian High Commission in London.
He is the
bearded figure in the background (commencing at the 5-second mark and ending at
the 10-second mark) when Rear Admiral Joseph Wey (in sunglasses and bow-tie), the head
of the Nigerian Navy, is shaking hands with Admiral Anthony Griffith, the
Controller of the Navy & Third Sea Lord.
